  • History Club
    1. Sponsor - Kim Lieske
    2. Description- In this club, we will look at and discuss various times and events in history. The topics could include but are not limited to: famous battles, famous (or infamous) leaders/rulers/people, contributions to society then and now, the arts, and other topics students would like to explore.

  • 8th Grade Gamers Club
    1. Sponsor - Jessa Gillaspie
    2. Description- Welcome to the 8th Grade Video Gaming Club—a space where every student can come together to share their passion for gaming! We celebrate diversity and acceptance, ensuring everyone feels at home. Whether you’re into console or mobile games, this is the perfect place to connect with fellow gamers, exchange strategies, and enjoy some friendly competition. Bring your favorite games and snacks and be ready to make new friends in a relaxed and inclusive environment. Join us to level up your gaming experience and be part of a community that values fun and friendship!

  • Robotics Club

    2. Description- In this club students will build and program robots. This club does NOT compete in robot challenges on the weekend. Limited to 20 people.

  • Model UN
    1. Sponsor - Ms. Terry
    2. Description- Model UN is a club in which students choose a country, write a resolution, and present at a one-day conference downtown. Students develop research skills, collaborate with others, and practice public speaking.
    3. Cost- $30- YMCA fee
  • Youth in Government
    1. Sponsor - Ms. Terry
    2. Description- Youth in Government is a club in which students choose an issue, write a resolution, and present at a one-day conference downtown.
      Meetings are Mondays during the second semester in Ms. Terry’s room from 3-4 PM.
    3. Cost- $30- YMCA Fee
  • Minecraft Club
    1. Sponsor - Dr. Jennifer Chandler
    2. Description- Students will develop design thinking and creativity by building both Minecraft Lego sets and playing Minecraft together online. Our community of students with similar interests will also explore city planning and other careers that align with skills learned by playing Minecraft.

  • Science Olympiad
    1. Sponsor - Sabrina Martin and Samuel Andereck
    2. Description- Founded in 1984, Science Olympiad is the premier team STEM competition in the nation, providing standards-based challenges to 6,300 teams at 425 tournaments in all 50 states. Students compete in a range of categories in Life, Physical, and Earth science. Our HMS 23-24 Science Olympiad team placed in the top Regional rankings and participated in the state competition held in Knoxville, TN placing 12th in the state and bringing home the 3rd place award in Fossils while also placing in second place in Anatomy & Physiology and Microbe Mission.
    3. Cost- $100 per student to cover test/build materials and team registration fees.
  • Dungeons & Dragons
    1. Sponsor - Ammons / Lee
    2. Description- Do you like math, storytelling and using your imagination? Dungeons & Dragons Club at HMS will strive to create an enjoyable, safe, friendly and memorable experience. The D&D club will meet most Mondays. D&D is a fantasy roleplaying game that was first published in 1974, Wikipedia has an excellent overview of the game if you are interested in more information. There are rules that help the game flow smoothly. I ask you to consider buying a set of RPG dice and/or a Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition player's handbook, however they are not required.

  • MythMakers
    1. Sponsor - Abigail Simone and Julia Hosea
    2. Description- MythMakers are enthusiasts of Greek and Roman Mythology and technology of the classical world. During our meetings we will explore myths and interpret many different aspects of mythology by making objects from the stories. Students will participate in local, state and national mythology competitions including Festivus and the National Pegasus Mythology Exams- the theme this year is Ancient Beginnings!
    3. Cost- $30; National Mythology Exam, Festivus, a t-shirt and club activity supplies
  • National Junior Honor Society
    1. Sponsor - Meagan Fowler, Julia Hosea, Jeanne Roth
    2. Description- The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship and helps middle-level students develop the knowledge and skills to become well- rounded student leaders in their school, community, and beyond. Students must have at least a 3.75 GPA in the core four classes and no more than one S in conduct per semester. In addition, teacher recommendations and evidence of school and/or community involvement will be taken into account. Applications will be distributed after Q1 to eligible 7th and 8th graders. 8th graders do not need to reapply if they became a member in the previous year. 2 service projects and service hours are required of all members.
    3. Cost- $ 20 for new members only; national dues, induction ceremony, club supplies.  
  • 7th grade Gamer's Club
    1. Sponsor - Melissa Heim
    2. Description- The 7h Grade Gamer Club is for students in 8th grade who enjoy playing video games. Students meet once a week Monday after school to discuss games and spend time playing games together. There is no fee required and all students are welcome.

  • HMS/HHS Trap Club
    1. Sponsor - Emily Squires
    2. Description- The Trap Club is a part of the HHS Trap Club. Students will compete in trap tournaments. A trap is where students shoot a clay target. The HMS/HHS Trap participates in American Singles Trap.

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes
    1. Sponsor - Howell
    2. Description- The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is an international club established in 1954 to encourage team building and organizational skills through a faith- based approach. Participants will learn the basics about the gospel message connected to FCA’s core values of integrity, serving, teamwork, and excellence. All students (athletes and non-athletes) are welcome to join the club.

    2. Description- We play chess, and teach anyone who does not know how to play chess.

    2. Description- UNO is the classic family card game that's easy to pick up and impossible to put down! Strategize to defeat your competition with special action cards. This is an opportunity for students to have fun and play a fun game after school.
