  • 8th Grade Gamer Club
    1. Sponsor - Christian
    2. Description- The 8th Grade Gamer Club is for students in 8th grade who enjoy playing video games. Students meet once a week Monday after school to discuss games and spend time playing games together. There is no fee required and all students are welcome.

  • 7th Grade Gamer Club
    1. Sponsor - Gillaspie
    2. Description: The 7th Grade Gamer Club is for students in 7th grade who enjoy playing video games. Students meet once a week Monday after school to discuss games and spend time playing games together. There is no fee required and all students are welcome.

  • 6th Grade Gamer Club
    1. Sponsor - Melissa Heim
    2. Description: The 6th Grade Gamer Club is for students in 6th grade who enjoy playing video games. Students meet once a week Monday after school to discuss games and spend time playing games together. There is no fee required and all students are welcome.

  • Robotics Club-

    2. Description- This club is an intro to robotics competitions.  We will be learning how to program the robots to perform tasks. This is an introduction to the First Lego League. Max students = 24

  • Chess Club
    1. Sponsor - Hamer
    2. Description: Students play chess with one another, and any student(s) who do not know how to play are taught the game. The Chess Club meets on Friday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in room #404.

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
    1. Sponsors- Howell, Ogden, Murray
    2. Description- The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is an international club established in 1954 to encourage team building and organizational skills through a faith-based approach. Participants will learn the basics about the gospel message connected to FCA’s core values of integrity, serving, teamwork, and excellence. All students (athletes and non-athletes) are welcome to join the club. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes curriculum and materials will be utilized. Additionally, the club may choose to invite outside guest speakers from local gospel-centered organizations to speak on the FCA core values/curriculum.   • Model UN

    2. Description-Model United Nations is a fall semester-only club designed to give students an opportunity to have hands-on experience with international issues and policy. They will choose a country, and then research its history, culture, and history. They will present a resolution to students from around the Memphis area in a one-day conference. The club promotes collaboration and builds students’ self-confidence and public speaking skills.

  • Youth in Government

    2. Description- Youth in Government is a spring semester-only club designed to give students an opportunity to have hands-on experience with local government and policy. They will choose a local issue, and then research it. They will present a resolution to students from around the Memphis area in a one-day conference. The club promotes collaboration and builds students’ self-confidence and public speaking skills.

  • HMS Golf Club
    1. Sponsor- Howell
    2. Description- The HMS Golf Club is a sports club open to all levels of experience. MISSION The HMS Golf Club is affiliated with the Tennessee Middle School Golf Association (TMSGA) whose mission is dedicated to the promotion of golf and its life-enhancing values to the middle school population across Tennessee. PHILOSOPHY Our club in connection with the TMSGA exists to provide competitive golf events for middle school students. More importantly, the students have an avenue to learn the valuable skills necessary to take their game to the next level.

  • Science Olympiad
    1. Sponsors - Jordan and Martin
    2. Description- Founded in 1984, the Science Olympiad is the premier team STEM competition in the nation, providing standards-based challenges to 6,000 teams at 425 tournaments in all 50 states. Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division. Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. Through Science Olympiad, students, teachers, parents, principals, and business leaders bond together and work toward a shared goal.

  • Wyldlife

    2. Description- Our Mission is introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.​ Our Methods Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. We accomplish our mission by ... - Praying for young people. - Going where kids are and building personal relationships with them. - Earning the right to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. - Providing fun, adventurous, life-changing, and skill-building experiences. - Inviting kids to personally respond to the Good News and walking in friendship with them regardless of their response. - Preparing kids for a life-long relationship with Christ and a love for His word, His mission, and the local church. ​- Working in the community alongside like-minded adults (volunteer leaders, committee members, donors, and staff).   • Uno Club

    2. Description- UNO™ is the classic family card game that's easy to pick up and impossible to put down! Strategize to defeat your competition with special action cards. This is an opportunity for students to have fun and play a fun game after school.

  • National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)
    1. Sponsors- Hosea, Fowler, Chandler, Roth, Michael Heim, and Richard Wexler
    2. Description-Students are admitted to NJHS by having a 3.8 or higher core class GPA, demonstrated school and/or community involvement, and excellent behavior - no more than one "S" for behavior per semester. During the year, students must complete at least 6 hours of service and participate in at least one of the two service projects. In addition, they must maintain their grades and behavior.

  • Math Counts
    1. Sponsor-  Shackleford
    2. Description- Math Counts is a club that provides students a platform to extend and share their interests in mathematics. Typical activities include math explorations, game instructions, problem sets, and monthly challenges. This national math program is given to US middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem-solving. Students who are accepted into the club must pass a test provided through the program. Those who are accepted will pay a $30 registration fee that holds their place in the competition.

  • Theater Club

    2. Description- The club will come together to learn more about theater and put our knowledge into action with the spring musical "Into the Woods Jr". Auditions will be Oct 3rd and 5th.

  • Minecraft Club

    2. Description- A club for students to celebrate the game of Minecraft. It will meet monthly on a day to be determined.

  • HMS Name that Tune
    1. Sponsor- Murray
    2. Description- Do you know music? This club will host monthly competitions in which students will vie to see who can name that tune.

  • Sneakerz Club
    1. Sponsor- Britt
    2. Description- Students will identify new trends and price points in popular and unpopular sneakers from as far back as 1980! Students will analyze the cost, resell value, and the iconic labeling of certain sneakers over time!

  • History Exploration
    1. Sponsor- Lieske
    2. Description- We will look at and discuss various times and events in history. The topics could include but are not limited to famous battles, famous (or infamous) leaders/rulers/people, contributions to society then and now, the arts, and other topics students would like to explore.

  • Mythmakers
    1. Sponsor- Dr. Abigail Simone
    2. Description-MythMakers are middle school students who are enthusiasts of Greek and Roman Mythology and technology of the classical world. During our meetings we will explore myths and interpret many different aspects of mythology by making objects from the stories. Students will participate in local, state and national mythology competitions including Festivus and the National Pegasus Mythology Exams. This club is led by Mrs. Julia Hosea, Dr. Abigail Simone, Latin teacher at Houston High School, and Houston High School Latin students.
