January 2024 - GOAl, HMS, and HHS are preparing for their preview nights! These nights are designed to show families who are new to GMSD all that our amazing schools have to offer.

January 2024- Over the holiday break, the Houston Mustangs' winter sports teams, including boys and girls varsity basketball with notable victories, are gearing up for upcoming games against Cordova and ❌ollierville, while varsity swim prepares for their next sprint meet at St. George’s this Thursday.

January 2024- Elizabeth Hume, named GMSD Teacher of the Year for Grades 5-8, is a passionate 6th-grade social studies teacher at Houston Middle School for 27 years, known for making history exciting through creative teaching methods and community involvement.

January 2024- Germantown parents are also invited to join us for GMSD Discovery Days to see firsthand why each one of our schools are a top choice for families. School day tours are available for the 2024-2025 school year.

January 2024- Applications are open for the Houston High School Honors and Leadership Academies, offering rising 9th-11th graders a chance to join specialized cohorts with rigorous academics, leadership development, and a focus on community service.

December 2023 - The Shelby County Swim League held their end of season meet, and the Mustangs of Houston Middle had great success!

In a thrilling ascent through the ranks of Memphis basketball, the Houston Middle School girls varsity basketball team has emerged as the #1 in the city, according to the prestigious Memphis Basketball Association’s Dandy Dozen rankings. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the team's relentless commitment, hard work, and an unyielding desire to be the best.  Their undefeated record reinforces the talent and dedication of the team.

On Friday, November 10th, Houston Middle School was asked to join the Veterans Day celebration at Forest Hill Elementary School. HMS Band and Orchestra helped lead the celebration in honor of the brave men and women who have served in the military.

This Friday, December 1, 2023 come help kick off HMS basketball homecoming! The event is after school from 3:15pm - 5:15pm.
